HORSE RACING: Two-time Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Galopin Des Champs has died just five days after he had been retired by trainer Willie Mullins.

The French-bred 10-year-old who won 12 Group One races, including three successive Irish Gold Cups, suffered a fatal leg injury on Tuesday morning.

He last raced in February’s Leopardstown Irish Gold Cup, finishing third behind Fact To File and Gaelic Warrior.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Ollie Watkins came on as a second-half substitute to score on his debut for Al Hilal as they beat Ivan Toney’s Al Ahli 3-0 in in the Saudi Professional League.

Chasing a record-breaking 282 to win, opener Maia Bouchier hit 104 from 95 balls as the English won Tuesday’s opener in Leicester by six wickets with almost 12 overs to spare.

Captain Gaby Lewis was Ireland’s top-scorer with 69, while Issy Wong and Charlie Dean bagged two wickets each for England.
