HORSE RACING: Reigning Irish champion flat jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle spent Tuesday night in Drogheda hospital after his mount Mosel fell in the opening race at Bellewstown. 

He is expected to be unable to ride for a number of weeks. 

The meeting, which was due to celebrate Bellewstown’s 300th anniversary, was abandoned following the second race after three other horses slipped and two fell on the rain-affected surface.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Wigan will mourn the death of their legendary winger Billy Boston before tomorrow evening’s Super League fixture against Hull KR. 

Boston scored 478 tries in 488 games for Wigan and was part of the England team that won the World Cup in 1960. 

Wigan are currently second in the Super League, level on points with table-topping Leeds, while defending champions Hull KR are eight points off the pace in sixth.
