SPEEDWAY: Belle Vue lost the first heat but stormed back to thump Sheffield 53-37 in the Premiership on Monday night. 

The east Manchester-based club preserved their 100 per cent home record, having already romped to the regular season title. 

Monday’s other action saw Tobiasz Musielak top-score with 14 points as defending champions Ipswich won 48-42 at Leicester to secure their place in the end of season play-offs.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: The Europa League phase kicks off tomorrow evening with Ararat Armenia taking on Sparta Prague and Omonia Nicosia up against Celta Vigo in the early kick-offs. 

Other fixtures on Wednesday night include the Stadium of Light hosting its first European game when Sunderland face AZ Alkmaar, 2007 Champions League winners AC Milan meeting two-time European Cup holders Benfica and Leverkusen playing Slovenia’s Celje.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Despite winning the regular season Super League title, Zach Eckersley and Brad O’Neill are Wigan’s only representatives in this year’s Dream Team. 

Six players from runners-up Leeds are included with Jake O’Connor and James McConnell retaining their places from last season.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The World Cup’s most valuable player Breanna Stewart top-scored with 22 points as the United States cruised to a 97-79 victory over France in the final at the Berlin Arena.
