Bologna's Dan Ndoye (right covered) scores past AC Milan's goalkeeper Mike Maignan the opening goal during the Italian Cup final soccer match between AC Milan and Bologna at Rome's Olympic Stadium, May 14, 2025

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Dan Ndoye scored the only goal of the game as Bologna, captained by Scotland’s Lewis Ferguson, beat AC Milan 1-0 to win the Coppa Italia in front of a full house at Rome’s Olympic stadium.

It’s the Bolognesi’s first major trophy since 1974 when they also picked up the Coppa Italia.

On loan Manchester City defender Kyle Walker played the last half hour of the game for Milan.

NETBALL: Super League bottom club Cardiff Dragons will be looking to follow up last week’s first win of the season when they host Nottingham Forest at the House of Sport tomorrow evening.

Forest are nine points and three places better off than the Dragons. Manchester face Birmingham, Leeds take on London Mavericks and the league’s top two clash on Sunday when London Pulse meet defending champions Loughborough.

RUGBY UNION: Hollie Davidson will become the first woman to take charge of a major European final after being appointed to referee next week’s men’s European Challenge Cup decider between Bath and Lyon.

The 32-year-old became Scotland’s first full-time female referee in 2017 and has officiated at matches in the Sevens World Cup, United Rugby Championship and Six Nations. She will take charge of South Africa’s test match with Italy in July.

MEN’S CRICKET: Scotland are up against the Netherlands in a World Cup League Two fixture at Utrecht tomorrow morning.

The Scots enjoyed an eight-wicket win over the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday with man of the match Brandon McMullen taking 3-48, hitting an unbeaten 50 and making a run out for the defending champions.

The Dutch top the table, eight points clear of fourth-placed Scotland who have four games in hand.
