SPEEDWAY: Robert Lambert ended Dan Bewley’s run of three consecutive British championships when he beat Charles Wright and Bewley in the final to claim the title on Monday night in Manchester. Chris Harris was fourth. Norwich-born Lambert, who currently races in the Swedish and Polish leagues, had previously been British champion in 2018 and was runner up to Bartosz Zmarzlik at last year’s world championships.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: NBA champions Boston Celtics are on the brink of exiting this year’s competition after the New York Knicks beat them 121-113 on Tuesday morning for a 3-1 Eastern Conference semi final series lead. In the west, Minnesota lead Golden State by the same score after edging them 117-110. 2023’s winners Denver are level at 2-2 with Oklahoma and Indiana are 3-1 up on number one seeds Cleveland before tomorrow’s games.

MEN’S CRICKET: Nottingham’s 336-run thumping of Hampshire put them 12 points clear at the top of County Championship division one after Ben Foakes sealed a draw for defending champions Surrey against second-placed Warwickshire with a career-best 174 not out at Edgbaston. Sussex beat bottom club Worcester by 47 runs and Essex battled to a losing draw against Yorkshire. Leicester lead division two by 19 points from Derbyshire.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Five-time winners AC Milan meet Bologna in the Coppa Italia final in Rome tomorrow evening. Bologna are two points above Milan in Serie A but with two games to go neither club currently sit in a position to qualify for Europe. Tonight’s winners gain automatic qualification to the Europa League. Bologna last reached the Coppa Italia final over 50 years ago when they beat Palermo on penalties to pick up the trophy in 1974.
