NEW Rangers signing Jamie Murphy is excited for the opportunity to play for his boyhood club.

The Glasgow-born winger has joined the Gers from Premier League side Brighton on an initial loan deal until the end of the season.

Rangers confirmed they have an option with a “guaranteed fixed fee” to sign the 28-year-old on a permanent deal in the summer.

After the announcement in the early hours of yesterday morning, Murphy wrote on Twitter: “Wore the shirt many times as a kid but the chance to put it on for real is something special. Will always be worn with pride. Thank you all for the support.”

Murphy made 35 league appearances for Brighton last season.
