Venezuela: Top military officers held over suspected plot to oust Maduro
VENEZUELAN counterintelligence agents arrested seven high-ranking military officers yesterday morning over an apparent coup plot.
The recently formed anticoup commando of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service also had an arrest warrant for former interior minister Major General Miguel Rodriguez.
The unit was formed just days before by new Vice-President Tareck El Aissami, who was appointed last week by President Nicolas Maduro with a special mandate to crack down on plotters.
