Iranian actress known for Oscar winning film arrested over Instragram post

AN IRANIAN actress known for her work in an Oscar-winning film was arrested on Saturday for her support of the nationwide women-led protests.

Taraneh Alidoosti, who starred in 2016’s The Salesman, was detained after she made a post on Instagram expressing solidarity with the first man recently executed for taking part in the protests against the government, a strict theocracy that polices female behaviour, which have been going on for three months.

She has been accused of spreading false information.
