High Court quashes anti-arms trade campaigners' challenge against British arms sales to Saudi Arabia
Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch

THE High Court ruled against campaigners today in their challenge against the government’s arms sales to Saudi Arabia despite the country’s record on human rights violations.

Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) had challenged the lawfulness of a decision to continue licensing arms exports to the kingdom for “possible use” in a war in Yemen, which is experiencing a humanitarian crisis.

The group had taken legal action against International Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch but two London judges yesterday dismissed CAAT’s claim for judicial review.
