PLAID CYMRU is set to unveil five pledges for rural Wales as part of its general election campaign.

The Welsh nationalist party promised to be the voice of rural Wales in Westminster as it made its pitch ahead of its formal manifesto launch on Thursday.

The party said that rural communities face challenges associated with distance from key services, limited job opportunities and low incomes, a rural premium, lack of public transport infrastructure and social isolation.
