FOOTBALL: The English League Cup semi-finals continue tomorrow evening with Tottenham taking a 1-0 lead to reigning champions Liverpool in the men’s game while holders and seven-time winners of the women’s competition Arsenal host Manchester City at Boreham Wood in a one-legged affair.

Arsenal won 4-3 at City in the Super League just five days ago but will again be without new loan signing Chloe Kelly.

MEN’S CRICKET: Afghani leg-spinner Rashid Khan became the world’s leading wicket taker in Twenty20 cricket when he bagged 2-33 for Cape Town in their 39 run win over Paarl on Tuesday.

Khan’s career haul of 633 wickets overtakes retired West Indian medium pacer Dwayne Bravo, who was the Afghan’s Twenty20 bowling consultant in 2024.

Khan is currently eighth in the world’s short format bowling rankings and eighteenth on the all-rounders list.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Bourgoin-Jallieu from the fifth tier of French football look to continue their giant-killing run when they play Ligue One’s Reims in this evening’s last tie of the French Cup round of 16.

They knocked out last year’s runners-up Lyon in the last round.

Holders Paris St Germain progressed to the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win at Le Mans on Tuesday while high-flying Lille lost on penalties to lower league Dunkerque.

MEN’S CRICKET: Joe Root, England’s record century maker in one-day cricket, is expected to return at number three when they begin a three-match 50-over series against world number ones India in Nagpur on Thursday.

Although originally picked for the Twenty20 series spinner Rehan Ahmed has also been added to a squad that is playing its last three matches before the Champions Trophy starts in Australia in a fortnight’s time.
