WOMEN’S FOOTBALL:

Everton beat FA Cup-holders Tottenham 2-0 on Wednesday evening to set up a fifth round tie with current Super League leaders Chelsea.

14-time winners Arsenal will take on The London City Lionesses after easing past Bristol City 5-0.

Brighton travel to Aston Villa after seeing off Durham 4-1 and Liverpool will face Rugby Borough in the last 16 after cruising to a 5-0 win at 10-woman West Ham.

MEN’S CRICKET:

England are 2-1 down as they head into Friday’s fourth leg of their five game Twenty20 series against India in Pune.

After losing the first two matches, the tourists earned a 26-run win in Rajkot three days ago thanks to a solid bowling performance led by Adil Rashid’s superb 1-15 from his four overs.

India are currently ranked the world’s best Twenty20 team, two places ahead of the English.

MEN’S CYCLING:

Switzerland’s Jan Christen broke away in the last kilometre to win Wednesday’s Trofeo Calvia race on Mallorca.

He finished six seconds ahead of Christian Scaroni with Antonio Morgado third.

The highest placed Britons were Mark Donovan, Hugh Carthy and Callum Thornley, who all came home in a large group that included former world road race champion Rui Costa, almost nine minutes off the pace.

MEN’S BASKETBALL:

A full set of Super League fixtures tip off Friday evening with the table-topping Sheffield Sharks up against Manchester while second-placed London, who are level on points with the Sharks, visit Newcastle.

Leicester are two points back in third with a game in hand before they face Bristol and Cheshire Phoenix travel to face the Surrey 89ers.

Bottom of the table, Caledonia are the only team not in action.
