Unite secure above-inflation pay deal for Edinburgh Airport workers

UNITE union has secured a real-terms pay rise for about 350 members at Scotland’s largest airport.

The Edinburgh Airport workers — in terminal operations, airport security, and processing passengers for flights — backed the deal which will see a 5.8 per cent rise in basic pay and shift allowances.

It will include a £450 bonus scheme backdated to January 2025, as well as a range of improvements to conditions including on paternity leave, income protection and training.

Unite industrial officer Carrie Binnie said: “Unite has secured another good pay deal for our members at Edinburgh Airport Limited.

“It builds on our successes over a number of years to deliver a better jobs, pay and conditions for hundreds of workers at the airport.”

The settlement marks the latest milestone in the union’s campaign to improve conditions in a sector that had become synonymous with outsourcing.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Unite’s Runway to Success campaign across Scottish airports continues to deliver better jobs, pay and condition for our membership.

“The message is clear to all airport workers, if you want better jobs, pay, and conditions then be a member of Unite.”
