Wage win for Unite’s North Air workers

North air workers reach pay deal with bosses

NORTH AIR workers in Scotland have secured a 4 per cent pay rise as well as improved terms and conditions.

Around 100 tanker drivers and airfield operators, who provide refuelling services at Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Kirkwall (Orkney), Sumburgh (Shetland) and Stornoway airports, will all see their pay rises backdated to April.

The increase will also flow through to shift allowances and overtime rates, while their union Unite also secured double-time for weekend working and full basic pay for workers on paternity leave after 26 weeks of service.

Celebrating the “year on year boost to the pay packets,” Unite’s lead industrial officer for civil aviation Pat McIlvogue said: “These workers are highly skilled and essential to Scotland’s aviation industry.

“We are delighted to get these wins across the line for North Air workers.”

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham added: “The pay deals build on the successes Unite has achieved for North Air workers in recent years.

“Unite is fully committed to driving up the jobs, pay and conditions of workers throughout Scotland’s aviation industry.”
