SPEEDWAY: Birmingham sit bottom of the Premiership and are now the only team without a win after they lost both matches in their bank holiday double-header with Oxford.

At the other end of the table, league leaders Ipswich came from behind after nine heats to see off King’s Lynn 53-37.

Manchester and Sheffield shared the honours in their double-header but Sheffield bagged the bonus point thanks to a 101-79 aggregate win.

MEN’S BOXING: Naoya Inoue survived a second-round knockdown to stop Ramon Cardenas in the eighth round of their super-bantamweight title fight in Las Vegas and remains the undisputed world champion.

Inoue improved his unbeaten record to 30 fights while Cardenas suffered a first defeat since 2017.

On the undercard unbeaten Rafael Espinoza stopped Edward Vazques in the 7th round to retain his WBO featherweight belt.

MEN’S CRICKET: The Pakistan Super League resumes Wednesday with a top-of-the-table clash between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United.

Quetta hold a one-point advantage over Islamabad and third-placed Karachi, who are not in action until Thursday when they face Peshawar Zalmi.

England’s Luke Wood took 2-18 as struggling Multan Sultans slipped six points adrift at the bottom after suffering a seven-wicket defeat to Peshawar on Monday.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Drogheda still lead the League of Ireland by a point after Ryan Brennan’s stoppage-time penalty earned them a 3-2 win over Cork City on Monday.

Second-placed Shamrock Rovers beat bottom club Sligo 2-0, Derry remain level on points with Shamrock in third following their 1-0 victory over St Patrick’s, defending champions Shelbourne lost 1-0 at home to Waterford and Bohemians won 2-1 at Galway.
