ICE HOCKEY: Sheffield Steelers were knocked out of the Champions Hockey League after they went down 4-2 in Berlin on Tuesday evening for a 9-5 aggregate defeat. German champions Berlin will be joined in the quarter-finals by compatriots Bremerhaven, who thrashed Skelleftea 10-1 over two legs, Zurich, 11-3 winners over the Straubing Tigers and Sweden’s Vaxjo Lakers, following their narrow 4-3 victory over Swiss club Fribourg-Gotteron.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Arsenal will take a huge step towards the Champions League quarter-finals if they beat Juventus at Ashburton Grove tomorrow evening. The Gunners romped to a 4-0 win in last week’s reverse fixture. Elsewhere in Group C table-toppers Bayern Munich are in Oslo to face Valerenga while Manchester City take their 100 per cent record to Sweden’s Hammarby in Group D before Barcelona are in Austria to take on St Polten.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Konrad Hurrell, who missed three months of last season due to surgery on a neck injury, has signed a one-year contract extension with St Helens. The Tongan born centre made over 100 appearances in the Australian National Rugby League for the New Zealand Warriors and Gold Coast Titans before joining Leeds in 2019. Hurrell has scored 26 tries for the Saints since joining them in 2022.
