CANTEEN staff at Fawley oil refinery downed tools and launched fresh strike action today.
The predominantly female workers, employed by catering outsourcer Compass Group, first walked out in July over pay.
Their union Unite says the staff earn just above minimum wage and are striking for a pay rise that keeps pace with the soaring cost of living.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Compass Group is a multibillion-pound giant that is refusing to give its staff a fair pay rise.
“Its decision is being driven purely by corporate greed.”
The catering provider reported £1.2 billion in operating profits in the six months to March, an increase of 11.6 per cent.
The latest round of action is set to last until Friday. Further strikes will take place from August 26 to 28 and from September 1 to 5.
Compass Group has been contacted for comment.
