REFORM UK dodged questions on its latest party funding scandal today while continuing to huff and puff about a T-shirt image implying threats to its leader Nigel Farage.

Economic spokesman and Tory defector Robert Jenrick claimed that the party had followed all the rules in declaring donations.

But he declined to answer when pressed on the revelation that the mother of Montenegro-based fraudster George Cottrell had transferred $2 million to his mother Fiona days before she made a £1m donation to Reform.

“We are entirely confident that Reform followed all electoral rules at the time when the donations were made,” Mr Jenrick said.

Funding scandals have dented Reform’s poll ratings, so Mr Jenrick was happy to be more forthcoming on the subject of the social media image briefly endorsed, and then unendorsed, by Green leader Zack Polanski.

The image quoted a 1980s pop song about a “Nigel” next to a pictorial guillotine.

He slammed the familiar bugbear of “two-tier policing” after the police announced that they were not investigating the matter further.

“The police are saying that it doesn’t warrant further investigation for somebody to wear a T-shirt emblazoned with a guillotine dripping in blood, saying it’s preparing for the death of Nigel Farage — that I find astonishing and unacceptable,” Mr Jenrick hyperventilated.

Avon and Somerset Police said of the image: “No complaints were received from people at the event at which it was worn and there is no evidence the wearer of the T-shirt intended to threaten any individual, or encourage anyone else to do so.

“As a result, a senior detective has determined that the threshold for a criminal offence has not been met and no further action will be taken.”
