KABUL’S Hamid Karzai International Airport was a scene of chaos today as crowds of panicking people tried to flee Afghanistan  and at least seven people died.

Harrowing footage showed a number of people plunging to their deaths from a departing US military plane after clinging to it in sheer desperation.

US soldiers fired into crowds and there were rumours that some people had been killed. US officials said that warning shots had been fired “as the crowd was out of control.”
