The international solidarity shown to journalists, particularly women who have lost their jobs and faced threats from Taliban fighters, has made me even more proud to be a member of the National Union of Journalists.
Our international body, the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), has played a superb role in pressuring governments to take action to protect Afghan journalists and used its safety fund to assist those in dire financial straits.
