They take on the Essex Rebels tomorrow night looking to extend their unbeaten run to 16 league games.

Sunday’s other games saw Leicester squeeze past Caledonia 59-55 to move joint second with the Scots and Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby net 24 points in Durham’s 84-72 win in Essex.

CYCLING: Pre-race favourite Mathieu van der Poel finished 22nd in Sunday’s Amstel Gold race, 11 seconds behind winner Tom Pidcock.

Marc Hirschi was second behind the Briton with Tiesj Benoot third.

The women’s race ended in misery for Lorena Wiebes who led towards the finish but celebrated too early and was beaten on the line by Marianne Vos with Ingvild Gaskjenn third and Britain’s Pfeiffer Georgi fourth.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: League leaders Rangers beat champions Glasgow City 4-1 to remain one point clear in the Scottish Women’s Premier League after second-placed Celtic won 5-0 at Partick Thistle.

Hearts had seen off Hibs 2-0 before Montrose continued their superb recent form with a 2-1 win at Spartans, struggling Dundee United were edged out 2-1 at Motherwell and bottom club Hamilton led twice before going down 3-2 in Aberdeen.

MEN’S ICE HOCKEY: Elite League champions Sheffield stuffed Fife 13-5 on aggregate to set up a play-off semi-final against Guildford, who eased past Manchester 9-1 to book their place at next weekend’s finals in Nottingham.

Belfast Giants needed a man-of-the-match performance from net-minder Jackson Whistle to edge out Coventry 3-2 and seal their last four tie with Cardiff, 7-4 aggregate winners over Dundee.
