BRITAIN’S largest education union backed a boycott of the Science Museum over its sponsorship by fossil fuel giants Adani and BP today.

Delegates at the National Education Union’s (NEU) annual conference voted to support the campaign for schools to boycott the Science Museum Group until they cut the sponsorship ties.

They also declared: “The re-election of Donald Trump on a climate denial platform threatens the future of the children we educate.”

The motion also said that British military spending should not be increased at the cost of all other investment or at the expense of the world’s poorest people.

NEU general secretary Daniel Kebede added: “There is an urgent need to retrofit existing education buildings to make them fit for the future.”

The Science Museum Group also includes the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester, National Railway Museum in York, Locomotion Museum in County Durham and Science and Media Museum in Bradford.
