WOMEN’S ATHLETICS: Days after announcing her aim to break the 41-year-old 800 metres world record at September’s Diamond League finals in Brussels, Olympic gold medallist Keely Hodgkinson has picked up a season-ending injury.
Hodgkinson had won all nine of her races this year and broke her own British record in July. Ann Packer was the last British woman to hold the world 800 metres record, back in 1964.
