MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Scotland brushed off Chile 52-11 on Saturday to remain unbeaten on their tour of rugby’s second tier nations. They will play Uruguay next Sunday after Los Teros were crushed 79-5 at home by Argentina. Australia beat Georgia 40-29 in new coach Joe Schmidt’s first game, New Zealand cruised to a 47-5 win over Fiji and Makazole Mapimpi scored a hat-trick of tries as South Africa thrashed Portugal 64-21.

SPEEDWAY: 19-year-old Luke Killeen will make his debut for Oxford in the Premiership tomorrow evening as the Spires travel to face a Belle Vue team that have lost just once at home all season. Killeen, from Western Australia, already captains Oxford’s National Development League team. Tonight’s other Premiership fixture sees bottom of the table Birmingham host second-placed Sheffield Tigers at the Perry Barr track.

ATHLETICS: Olympic silver medallist Keeley Hodgkinson broke the British record and clocked the world’s fastest time this year as she won the women’s 800 metres at London’s Diamond League event on Saturday. Compatriot Matthew Hudson-Smith, who missed the Tokyo Olympics due to injury, beat his own European record to take the men’s 400 metres in another best time for the year. The men’s 100 metres was won by American Noah Lyles in 9.81 seconds.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Halifax-based Siddal still lead the National Conference Premier league on points difference after they eased to a 20-0 victory at Kells and second-placed West Hull edged out reigning champions Hunslet ARLFC 18-10. Saturday’s other games saw bottom of the table West Bowling thump Egremont 46-12, Thatto Heath hold off Lock Lane 30-22, York Acorn win 8-0 at Heworth and Rochdale Mayfield see off Wath Brow 29-6.
