Remembering the life of an international communist: Jimmy Jancovic 1927-2019

JIMMY JANCOVIC, who died recently in Paris, his adopted home city, was one of that rare breed of true internationalists.

He grew up in Egypt a Jew, a communist and a supporter of the national independence movement led by Abdel Nasser.

Following the overthrow of the Egyptian monarchy and the success of the Arab nationalists, they turned against the communists and Jimmy and many of his comrades had to leave the country.
