Kurds say ‘you cannot darken our sun’ as they demand freedom for Abdullah Ocalan
Leader of the Kurdish liberation struggle Abdullah Ocalan

KURDISH forces demanded freedom for jailed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Ocalan today as they condemned the “global conspiracy” that led to his kidnap and detention.

“You cannot darken our sun,” the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) said as it marked the 23rd anniversary of the global move against Mr Ocalan, which ended with his  jailing in Turkey’s Imrali island prison.

But it condemned the imperialist states that refuse to recognise the Kurds as a people or nation with its own language, culture and identity, dividing its population during the colonialist carve-up of the Middle East more than a century ago.
