NOT FOR the first time — and certainly not for the last — can we witness about this time of year the ruling class handing out “honours” to those they deem worthy of their recognition.

There is always an element of services rendered, and this year is no exception. Whether you are from one of the smallest economies in the world or one of the largest, all you need to do is their bidding and your reward will come.

That is what happened with Tony Blair’s knighthood, a warmonger responsible for hundreds of thousands of people killed in the Middle East under the false pretext of “weapons of mass destruction” and for having turned so many people into refugees.
