Thousands of teachers vote to strike in February and March

TEACHERS across England and Wales will launch seven days of walkouts in February and March after overwhelmingly backing strikes over years of real-terms pay cuts, the National Education Union (NEU) announced today.
About nine in 10 educators voted for industrial action in the national ballot, which saw turnouts of 53.27 per cent in England and 58.07 per cent in Wales, surpassing the 50 per cent threshold.
School leaders’ union NAHT said that three-quarters of its members in Wales had endorsed strikes on a 55 per cent turnout, but in England, despite a 64 per cent Yes vote, only 42 per cent had turned out.
