A WELSH government minister has said he is hopeful for the devolution of more powers after initial talks with the Prime Minister.

Dafydd Trystan Davies, Wales’s cabinet minister for government effectiveness and the constitution, said conversations with Andy Burnham in recent weeks had been “positive.”

Plaid Cymru formed a minority administration following a historic election victory in May and today marked the passing of 100 days since its first Cabinet meeting.

Mr Davies said the government had made a “strong start” on delivering on its ambitions and had “already begun to make a tangible difference to people’s lives.”

The MS for Caerdydd Ffynnon Taf said he hoped to “make progress working constructively between the Welsh government and the UK government on things like rail funding, on the Crown Estate, on the devolution of policing.”

Plaid Cymru suffered a blow in July when it was defeated in a Senedd vote on its spending plans just before the summer recess.

Without a majority, Plaid needed support from opposition members to pass its supplementary budget.

Welsh Labour leader Ken Skates said: “Plaid have been telling us for decades that they were ready to lead Wales. Their actions since getting into government suggest otherwise.

“One hundred days in and it’s difficult to see what has changed. Plaid Cymru’s programme has included new reviews, expert groups, taskforces and strategies.

“The people of Wales deserve less talk and more action.”

Welsh Labour said it remained unclear what Plaid’s intentions were regarding NHS waiting lists, which have increased for the third month in a row.

Instead, the party said that Plaid has launched six bodies, 12 reviews, there expert panels, three audits, two feasibility studies, four strategies and four consultations.
