Tory government could ‘put an end to passengers’ misery by unlocking negotiations’ between unions and employers

THE Tory government is in “complete control of the national rail dispute and can put an end to passengers’ misery by unlocking negotiations” between unions and employers, RMT said today.

Ahead of a meeting with Rail Minister Huw Merriman, the transport union rubbished government claims that ministers are only “facilitators” between the two sides.

The union has repeatedly warned that the “dead hand of government” is preventing state-owned National Rail and private-sector train operators from reaching an agreement on jobs, working conditions and pay with the RMT, TSSA and Aslef unions.
