A COMPANY providing contracted facilities and security services for rail operators faces a 48-hour strike over bullying and unfair treatment, RMT union said today.

Members working for Carlisle Support Services on Northern rail’s revenue and gateline contract are to walk out on October 7 and 8 in a bid to secure improved pay and conditions.

The union accused bosses of pressuring staff to break the strike, denying extra hours to union members, and forcing redeployments at short notice to remote locations.

RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey said: “Carlisle bosses are trying to bully staff into submission instead of negotiating a fair deal.

“All our people want is respect, fair pay and decent conditions.

“The company need to get back to the table and make a decent offer.”

RMT called on Labour to honour its promise to undertake the biggest wave of insourcing in a generation.
