SNP will push symbolic vote on Waspi compensation
Waspi (Women Against State Pension Inequality) campaigners stage a protest on College Green in Westminster, London, October 30, 2024

SNP Westminster leader Stephen Flynn has called for Labour MPs to back his calls for a Waspi U-turn.

Labour Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall has controversially refused to pay the £2,950 compensation, recommended by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, to women born in the 1950s affected by the department’s “maladministration.”

Her decision last year came despite many Labour MPs backing the Waspi campaign as candidates — including fellow Cabinet members.
