A “RACIST” reference to “Kurdish terrorism” by Prime Minister Theresa May has caused outrage among Britain’s Kurds.

Ms May used the term during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s state visit last week as the signing of further arms deals was announced.

She remarked on her support for Turkey while it experiences “extraordinary pressures from Kurdish terrorism.”

The Kurdish People’s Democratic Assembly wrote to Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn condemning the remarks and inviting him to a press conference in the House of Commons.

The conference was held yesterday morning before Prime Minister’s questions.

Branding the remark “racist,” assembly co-chair Ibrahim Yahli said he feared it would encourage Turkish extremist groups in Britain to stage more attacks on the Kurdish community.

“The comment is an unfortunate extension of Turkish President Erdogan’s rhetoric he uses to justify his massacres of thousands of Kurdish civilians in Turkey and beyond,” Mr Yahli said.
