Unite strike action resumes at GSK pharmaceutical plant in Irvine
[The GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) production building]

SCAFFOLDERS, electricians, labourers and other workers in North Ayrshire launched more strike action today in a dispute over bonus payments.

About 40 outsourced engineering construction staff employed by contractor Kaefer at the Irvine plant of pharmaceutical giant GSK downed tools for the first of seven consecutive strike days.

The Unite members, who are also observing an overtime ban until April 2, are seeking an hourly bonus payment of £2.37 that is permitted under a national agreement for the industry, the union said.
