OUTSOURCED security staff at Aberdeen airport have called off industrial action after securing a last-minute improved pay offer, Unite said today.

The ICTS workers were poised to take 14 days of strike action when they were offered an above-inflation award which that will lift basic hourly wages by 6.5 per cent alongside an improved overtime rate.

Unite suspended all industrial action until the vote on the enhanced pay offer was complete.

General secretary Sharon Graham said: “Unite’s members at ICTS stood firm throughout this dispute.

“The enhanced pay offer was a direct result of our members being prepared to take lengthy strike action. It’s another win for Unite boosting jobs, terms and conditions in the aviation industry.”

Unite industrial officer Paula Buchan said: “The workers stood firm and refused to back down. The dispute is now over and it’s the latest pay success for workers based at Aberdeen airport.”
