Davutoglu claims 200 Isis soldiers killed by artillery

TURKEY claimed yesterday to have killed nearly 200 Islamic State (Isis) guerillas in cross-border shelling in revenge for Tuesday’s Istanbul bombing.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that the extremists had been “rendered ineffective” — a government code for killed — in the past 48 hours.

“Turkey will continue to punish with even greater force any threat that is directed against Turkey or its guests,” Mr Davutoglu said, in reference to the 10 German tourists killed in the Istanbul suicide bombing.
