MEN’S FOOTBALL: Manchester City are without Kevin de Bruyne, Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku for this evening’s Fifa Club World Cup final against Brazil’s Fluminense at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Neither side have won this competition before. The Brazilian’s 43 year old goalkeeper Fabio will set a new record as the oldest player to appear in the final whilst Felipe Melo at 40 will become the oldest outfield player.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: The United Rugby Championship (URC) resumes tomorrow evening as second-placed Glasgow host fifth-placed Edinburgh at Scotstoun with just four points separating the teams. The match also doubles as the first leg of the 1872 Cup. Glasgow won 12-11 at Bayonne in the European Champions Cup last weekend whilst Edinburgh saw off Castres 34-21 in the Challenge Cup. Connacht visit Ulster in tonight’s other URC fixture.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Harry Kane scored yet again, taking his total to 21 in 15 league games, as Bayern Munich won 2-1 at Wolfsburg in their last game before for the Bundesliga’s winter break. Kane has scored four more goals than second-best Killian Mbappe in top-flight European football during 2023. Munich sit second in the Bundesliga, four points behind unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen but with a game in hand.

ICE HOCKEY: Coventry came from four down on the night to beat Belfast 5-4 after a shootout, 6-5 on aggregate, and claimed their place in the Challenge Cup semi finals. Belfast had won this competition four times in last five years. Sheffield stuffed Manchester 5-1 to complete a 10-2 aggregate win in Wednesday night’s other fixture to join Coventry, Glasgow and Guildford in the last four.
