MEN’S FOOTBALL: Harry Kane bagged a hat-trick as unbeaten Bayern Munich beat Bavarian neighbours Augsburg 3-0 to move six points clear in the Bundesliga.
Mario Gotze netted the only goal of the game as second-placed Eintracht Frankfurt edged out Werder Bremen 3-0 while third-placed Leipzig surprisingly lost 4-3 at Hoffenheim.
Kane has now usurped Erling Haaland as the fastest player to score 50 goals in the Bundesliga.
SPEEDWAY: Last season’s Premiership basement dwellers Birmingham have signed Slovenian Matej Zagar.
The 41-year-old two-time European champion and World Grand Prix winner had previously spent five years with Manchester’s Belle Vue and won the league title with them in 2022.
Zagar will spearhead the new-look Perry Barr-based team that has also added former Premiership winner Tobias Musielak to their squad.
ICE HOCKEY: Belfast Giants forward Ben Lake received another one match ban and fine after deliberately kneeing an opponent in their 2-0 win over Guildford on Friday night.
Just three weeks ago, Lake was suspended and fined for dangerous boarding. Belfast lost 3-2 without him at Nottingham on Saturday.
Cardiff still top the Elite League despite losing 3-2 at home to lowly Glasgow before hitting back with a 5-4 win at bottom club Fife.
