MEN’S BASKETBALL:
Despite leading by 19 points at half time, the Detroit Pistons lost yet again, slipping to a 128-122 overtime defeat at the Boston Celtics on Friday morning and extending their winless run to 28 games.
The Celtics top the Eastern Conference Atlantic table with the NBA’s only 100 per cent home record.
Elsewhere, Nikola Jokic netted 26 points and ten assists as reigning champions Denver thumped the Memphis Grizzlies 142-105.
MEN’S FOOTBALL:
The Scottish Premiership’s top two clash on Saturday afternoon when table-topping Celtic host Rangers at Parkhead.
Rangers are five points behind in second place, but have two games in hand over their Glasgow neighbours.
The league’s bottom two also meet with basement dwellers Livingstone travelling to Motherwell while third-placed Hearts play Ross County, Aberdeen take on St Mirren and Dundee are at Kilmarnock.
ICE HOCKEY:
Defenceman Cody Sol’s early goal ended Glasgow’s six-match losing streak with a surprise 1-0 win at reigning Elite League champions Belfast on Thursday night.
Glasgow move onto Saturday’s derby with league bottom club Fife, while Belfast will be looking to bounce back when they host Dundee.
Runaway league leaders Sheffield face Manchester, Guildford are up against second-placed Cardiff and Nottingham visit Coventry.
MEN’S RUGBY UNION:
Glasgow will move top of the United Rugby Championship (URC) if they can beat Edinburgh at Murrayfield on Saturday in a match which also doubles as the second leg of the 1872 Cup final.
Glasgow won the first leg 22-10 eight days ago. Saturday’s other URC games see Zebre visiting Treviso to play third-placed Benetton for an Italian derby, and the Cape Town-based Stormers up against Durban’s Sharks.
