WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Rangers slipped from the summit of the Scottish Women’s Premier League on Wednesday night after they lost 1-0 at Hearts and new table-toppers Celtic edged out Hibs by the same score.
Reigning champions Glasgow City beat Partick 4-1 to keep up the pressure in third, Aberdeen won 3-2 at Montrose, Spartans drew 2-2 with Motherwell and Hamilton thumped Dundee United 5-2 in the bottom-of-the-table clash.
MEN’S CRICKET: After every game in the last round of County Championship fixtures was affected by rain and ended in a draw early Division One pace-setters Essex, the only team to have won a match so far, face Lancashire at Chelmsford tomorrow.
