MEN’S CYCLING: Australian Ben O’Connor still leads La Vuelta by just over a minute from three-time champion Primoz Roglic as the peloton heads into tomorrow’s mountainous stage 16 from Luanco to the Asturian summit of Lagos de Covadonga.

Enrico Mas is third, a further minute and 20 seconds behind with Adam Yates the highest placed Briton in 11th, five minutes and 34 seconds behind O’Connor.

WOMEN’S SPEEDWAY: Celina Liebman was unbeaten in five races as she stormed to victory in the British Open Speedway championship at Leicester’s Beaumont Park Stadium.
