MEN’S FOOTBALL: Halifax Town travel to Solihull tomorrow evening for the first National League play-off tie after the schedule was amended on Monday when Gateshead, who finished four points above Halifax, were removed from the competition. The Football League claims that Gateshead do not meet the qualifying criteria for promotion because their local council is unable to guarantee them a 10-year secure tenancy agreement on their home ground.

SPEEDWAY: Dan Bewley top scored with 12+1 points and captain Brady Kurtz weighed in with 12 from four heats as Belle Vue led from the start to swamp previously unbeaten Ipswich 55-35 on Monday night. Ipswich were without former World Champion Jason Doyle after he was stranded in Poland, where he currently races for GKM Grudziadz. WOMEN’S CRICKET: Reigning champions the Southern Vipers will look to bounce back from an opening day four wicket loss at the South-East Stars when they face early pace-setters Central Sparks tomorrow. The Stars visit Leicester to take on the Blaze, who suffered a heavy 78 run loss at Sparks in round one, Northern Diamonds meet Western Storm at Headingley and Lancashire Thunder play the Sunrisers at Old Trafford in tomorrow’s other games.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Cheered on by 1,500 travelling fans Larne all but secured their second consecutive Irish Premiership title after they drew 1-1 at second-placed Linfield on Monday night. With one game to go Linfield are only three points behind the champions-elect but are also 17 goals behind on goal difference. Larne host Coleraine in their final game on Saturday evening while Linfield face third-placed Belfast neighbours Cliftonville.
