Xi pledges to protect Chinese territory and improve living standards
Chinese President Xi Jinping gives a speech at the closing session of the annual National People's Congress at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing

RE-ELECTED President Xi Jinping pledged today to protect "every inch" of China's territory, improve people’s living standards and promote a resurgence of culture and creativity.

"All acts and tricks to split the motherland are doomed to failure and will be condemned by the people and punished by history,” he said.
