MEN’S FOOTBALL: Colombia extended their unbeaten run to 28 games after beating Uruguay 1-0 in the Copa America’s second semi final.

Jefferson Lerna headed the only goal of the game in the 39th minute before Colombia had his Crystal Palace team-mate Daniel Munoz sent off in first half added time.

The Colombians, who last won the tournament in 2001, will face defending champions Argentina in Sunday’s final at the Miami Gardens stadium.

SPEEDWAY: Anders Thomsen top-scored with 17 points as Denmark won the second Speedway of Nations semi final in Manchester on Wednesday night.

Reigning champions Australia finished second with Latvia third after they beat Czechia in the race off. Those three will be joined in Saturday’s final by Sweden, who won Tuesday’s semi final, Poland, led by world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik, Germany and hosts Britain.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Former Wales scrum-half Rhys Webb has been banned for four years by the French Anti-Doping Agency after being found guilty of using a human growth hormone whilst playing for Biarritz.

The 35-year-old played 40 times for Wales, won two British Lions caps on their 2017 tour of New Zealand and was also part of the Welsh squad that won the 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Larne slumped to a 3-0 defeat at Rigas FS in the first leg of their Champions League 1st qualifying round tie on Wednesday evening.

Dublin’s Shamrock Rovers drew 0-0 against Vikingur Reykjavik while Brad Young scored twice in The New Saints 3-0 win over Montnegro’s Decic. Steaua Bucharest produced the result of the round after romping to a 7-1 victory at San Marino’s Virtus FC.
