Risk to Coca cola and beer supplies as forklift drivers call indefinite strike
At risk: Heineken supplies

COCA-COLA, Budweiser, Stella and Heineken could be in short supply as a major distribution centre faces all-out strike action from next Wednesday, Unite said.

About 40 forklift truck drivers and machine operators in Lockwood Haulage Ltd’s glass division will walkout in a row over pay after rejecting a “miserly” 1 per cent increase.

The workers, based in Knottingley and South Kirby, West Yorkshire, worked for GXO before being transferred in March 2025 in a TUPE agreement.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “The fact that workers have not had a pay rise in nearly three years is an absolute insult and to be now offered a measly 1 per cent is a further kick in the teeth.

“Moving away from yearly increases to a bonus scheme is simply another way to shortchange our members at Lockwood.”

The company was contacted for comment.
