MEN’S FOOTBALL: Larne still top the Irish Premiership by eight points with a game in hand after they won 4-2 at Crusaders and second-placed Coleraine saw off Bangor 2-0.

Glentoran in third are a further five points behind, but with two games in hand following their 2-0 win in Dungannon.

Defending champions Linfield needed a last-minute own goal to edge out Ballymena 2-1, bottom club Glenavon beat Cliftonville 2-1 and Carrick won 3-0 at Portadown.

 

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George has received a 25-game ban from the NBA for failing a drugs test.

The suspension will cost him approximately a fifth of his $51 million (£44m) annual salary. Philadelphia remain sixth in the Eastern Conference after they won their first game without him, 124-114 at home to New Orleans this morning. George is a six-time member of the NBA all-star team.

 

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Glasgow are now four points clear in the United Rugby Championship after they held off Munster 31-22 and Cape Town lost again, 36-24 in Durban.

Reigning champions Leinster moved second with a 28-20 win over Edinburgh. Pretoria eased to a 52-11 victory in Johannesburg, bottom club Zebre lost 15-31 to Connacht, Ospreys edged the Dragons 19-13, Scarlets drew 20-20 in Treviso and Ulster beat Cardiff 21-14.

 

MEN’S BOXING: Sunderland’s Josh Kelly is the new IBF light-midleweight champion after earning a majority points decision over Bakhram Murtazaliev on Saturday night in Newcastle.

Kelly now has 18 wins and a draw from 20 bouts while the Russian former title-holder suffered a first loss in 23 fights.

In Leeds Troy Williamson stopped Callum Simpson in the tenth round to claim the British, Commonwealth and European super-middleweight titles.
