Poem for Hind Rajab
by Merryn Williams
The crime did not go unrecorded.
The phone link worked, her voice was heard.
She found the fame she never wanted;
her picture rockets round the world.
Yet still her mother can’t accept it;
the voice survives, the child is gone.
The days stack up; what happened, happened.
And consolation? There is none.
Merryn Williams is an Oxford-based poet. She has published four volumes of poetry. She edited Poems for Jeremy Corbyn (Shoestring 2016).
