Israeli military recovers bodies of three Gaza hostages

THE Israeli military said today that it had recovered the remains of three hostages held in the Gaza Strip.

 

This coincided with the killing of at least four Palestinians in an Israeli air strike.

 

The military identified the dead hostages as Yonatan Samerano, 21, Ofra Keidar, 70 and Shay Levinson, 19. All three were killed during the Hamas attack on southern IsraelIsrael on October 7 2023 that triggered Israelthe current campaign of genocide in GazaGaza.

 

The resistance group continues to hold 50 hostages, though less than half are believed to be alive.

 

The military did not provide any details of the recovery operation.

 

Hamas-led militants killed some 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and abducted 251 people in the October 7 attack. More than half the hostages have been returned in ceasefire agreements or other deals, eight have been rescued alive and Israeli forces have recovered dozens of bodies.

 

Israel’s invasion has killed more than 55,000 Palestinians, according to Gazathe Gaza Health Ministry.

 

Yesterday’s deadly air strike hit the built-up Nuseirat refugee camp in central GazaGaza, according to Al-Awda hospital, where the bodies were taken. It said that another 22 people had been wounded as they waited for lorries to deliver humanitarian aid.

 

Meanwhile, the World Central Kitchen charity said that it had resumed the distribution of hot meals in the coastal enclaveGaza for the first time in six weeks after shutting down because of Israelthe Israeli blockade.

 

The Hostages Families Forum has repeatedly called for a deal to release the remaining captives.

 

“Particularly against the backdrop of current military developments and the significant achievements in Iran, we want to emphasise that bringing back the remaining 50 hostages is the key to achieving any sort of victory,” it said in a statement yesterday.
