VIGILS took place in the east and west of Scotland at the weekend in solidarity with the people of Palestine.
In Edinburgh, Women in Black Scotland gathered at Register House on the city’s Princes Street, draping the historic building in banners that said “war doesn’t end conflict” and “war is not the answer.”
On the west coast, the Irvine & North Ayrshire Trades Union Council held a vigil at the Bridgegate in Irvine, the latest in a series of actions by the organisation as imembers continue their calls for a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to Israeli apartheid.
Acting secretary of the trades union council Arthur West told the Star: “At a time when that war seems to be getting forgotten, we were pleased to have been once again able to show our solidarity with the people of Palestine and Gaza and have such solid support from the people of Irvine.”
