MEN’S FOOTBALL: Aberystwyth’s 33-year stay in the Cymru Premier is under threat after Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat at Barry Town left them nine points adrift of safety. At the top of the table The New Saints beat Caernarfon 2-0 to move 15 points clear of second-placed Penybont and within one point of sealing yet another championship. Connah’s Quay thumped Flint Town 4-0 and Newtown drew 1-1 at Llansawel in the other midweek fixtures.

MEN’S DARTS: Luke Littler’s unbeaten 19-match run ended with a 7-6 defeat to Gian van Veen in the semi-finals of the Players Championship Five event in Leicester. Littler had earlier nailed a nine-dart finish in his fourth round win over Adam Hunt. Van Veen, who had also beaten Michael van Gerwen in the quarter-finals, went on to lose the final to Joe Cullen, who picked up £15,000 in prize money.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Donovan Mitchell top-scored with 24 points and Makai Ashton-Langford weighed in with another 22 as Manchester bagged their second successive Super League win under new head coach Herman Mandole after seeing off high-flying Leicester 100-93 at Belle Vue on Tuesday evening. Manchester now sit sixth in the table, 14 points below third-placed Leicester, who are a further eight behind table-topping London Lions.
